Immersed in Creativity: Our Experience at Rec Philly’s Creator Day
3 min readThe senior editors of Intellectual Ink Magazine, Julia Press Simmons and Charlotte Young-Foye, arrived at Rec Philly’s Creator Day on Saturday, Feb 24th, shortly after the doors opened. The place was jam-packed, and the energy was electric. Rec Creator Day was designed to help you stay ahead of the curve in the fast-paced world of creative entrepreneurship. They combine a lineup of industry giants, inspiring talks, skill-sharpening workshops, immersive experiences, and invaluable networking opportunities.
We snapped a few quick photos and then weaved through the crowd to find a not-so-quiet corner to set up camp. Our schedule permitted us to be there until 4 pm, and here is what we experienced.
First up: Creator Talk: For the Culture by Scottie Beam, Co-Host/Media Personality & Imani Ellis, Founder and CEO CultureCon/The Creative Collective
Next, we have “From Hobby to Hustle,” Powered by Google and led by BRIANA DEMAYO, Founder of Taste Creators, CHRISTIAN CROSBY.
Artist/Media Personality Philadelphia 76ers, TOM MANNING Lead Producer Breakbeat Media/DCMWG Podcast, and MARISSA HILL Executive Producer and Host Shade Studios/ShadeTV
Lastly, “And The Beat Goes On Hip-Hop’s Past, Present & Future,” by TUMA BASA, Director of Black Music Culture YouTube, and WILL TOMS, co-founder of REC PHILLY, creative entrepreneur and visionary leader.
Immersive experiences were a pivotal event component, with hands-on activities to tap into attendees’ creativity. From interactive installations to innovative challenges, participants had the opportunity to explore new ideas and push the boundaries of their creative expression.

Rec Members and their guest left the room with big smiles and plenty of energy, and I dutifully encouraged them all from the bench outside the room!
In between talks and sessions, the event facilitated valuable networking opportunities. Attendees were able to connect with fellow creators, exchange ideas, and build relationships that could potentially lead to future collaborations. Intellectual Ink Magazine connected with the following…
