Nearly every author dream of the day they can hear that their book has been optioned for film. India Johnson Williams is no exception. “Dishonorable,” Williams’ novella from the Outlaw Mamis anthology, was adapted for film by Boss Magnet Media Productions.

Based on the novella of the same title, Dishonorable is the story of eighteen-year-old Markita Jones (Ty Kruz) with the world at her fingertips. With beauty and brains to match, she is destined for greatness when she plans to attend an HBCU in the fall, leaving the dangerous neighborhood streets that she’s been accustomed to all her life. On her eighteenth birthday, those dreams take a nosedive when her older brother and forever best friend, Marlowe (Jason Mitchell), is murdered in cold blood. Hurt and filled with revenge, Markita, and her friends, Alexis (Atiya Johnson) and Kenya (Davina Works) plan to do whatever is necessary to find Marlowe’s killer. This plan snowballs when the girls find a way to earn fast money and take over the same streets Markita once vowed to move away from.
