Empowering Philadelphia’s Youth Through Literacy: A Call to Action
2 min readCOME WITH US TO THE TREE HOUSE!!!
In the heart of Philadelphia, a quiet revolution is taking place. It’s not marked by protests or political upheaval but by the turning of pages and the spark of imagination. At the forefront of this movement is Tree House Books, an organization dedicated to cultivating a love for reading and writing in the city’s youth. And now, they need your help.
Intellectual Ink Magazine is proud to announce our partnership with Tree House Books for the “Books in Every Home” campaign. From April 8th, Right to Read Day, to May 8th, we’re rallying our community to join us in this noble cause.
In a city where low-income neighborhoods often lack access to books, Tree House Books stands as a beacon of hope. Shockingly, statistics reveal that there is only one book for every 300 homes in these areas. Moreover, many public schools across Philadelphia struggle with non-functioning libraries, leaving countless children without the resources they need to develop crucial literacy skills.
The ramifications of this literacy crisis are staggering. Over 65% of children entering the 4th grade in Philadelphia are not reading at grade level—a sobering statistic that speaks volumes about the challenges they face in achieving academic success. But amidst these challenges, Tree House Books sees an opportunity.
With your support, we can change the narrative. By contributing to the “Books in Every Home” campaign, you’re not just donating books—you’re empowering children to dream, learn, and succeed. Every book distributed through this initiative represents a step towards a brighter future for Philadelphia’s youth.
At Intellectual Ink Magazine, we believe in the power of words to transform lives. By supporting the “Books in Every Home” campaign, you’re not just giving children books—you’re giving them the keys to unlock a world of possibilities.
Every Day we will be dropping information about how you can help… Where to #Buy, #Donate, and how to spread the word, WATCH THIS SPACE, and Join us in building a brighter future, one book at a time.
